PG&E Expands Vehicle-to-Home Program With Tesla, Volvo, Nissan Support
California utility adds multiple EV brands to V2X initiative while offering up to $17,000 in customer incentives.
Pacific Gas and Electric has expanded the scope of its Vehicle-to-Everything program, bringing additional electric vehicle manufacturers into the initiative. The utility company now supports models from Tesla, Volvo, Polestar, Kia, and Nissan, broadening access to bidirectional charging technology across multiple vehicle segments and price points.
The expanded program offers customers access to incentives reaching $17,000, designed to encourage adoption of vehicle-to-home technology. This financial support aims to offset the costs associated with enabling an electric vehicle to serve as a backup power source for residential properties, particularly valuable in regions prone to power disruptions.
The move reflects growing industry momentum around V2X infrastructure, which allows electric vehicles to not only draw power from the grid but also return stored energy during peak demand periods or outages. By including vehicles from multiple manufacturers, PG&E is positioning its program as a broader ecosystem play rather than favoring a single brand.
