Windrose, an electric semi truck manufacturer, has introduced an all-electric power take-off system designed to power auxiliary equipment on its battery-powered vehicles. The compact unit delivers up to 70 kilowatts of output while eliminating the need for traditional diesel-powered alternatives commonly used in the heavy-duty trucking sector.
Power take-off systems are essential components on commercial trucks, typically used to operate hydraulic pumps, compressors, and other equipment independent of the main engine. By transitioning this critical function to battery power, Windrose aims to enhance the efficiency and environmental performance of its electric semi truck platform.
The introduction of this technology could provide Windrose with a competitive advantage in the commercial EV market, as electric semi trucks have previously faced limitations in powering ancillary systems without compromising their primary driving range and battery capacity.
